Coffee Talk Sessions are bi-weekly events aiming to raise awareness about various world issues, allowing members to discuss recent pressing issues, controversial or otherwise. Members are given the opportunity one by one to discuss recent pressing issues, controversial or otherwise.
Some sessions that we have done are related to various conflicts around the world (e.g. the conflict in Ukraine) as well as other topics like: exploring the potential exploitation of human rights and also diving deeper into the ethics of technology (e.g. Deepfakes).
Model United Nations (MUN) Training Sessions are weekly internal sessions where members are introduced to the Rules of Procedures (ROP) in Model UN and trained for Model United Nations.
From being taught on how to operate in regular councils to specialized committees such as crisis councils, all shall be taught in the club's training sessions through experienced trainers and comprehensive materials!
Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences are events where they simulate the United Nations, its agencies and various legislatures. Participants learn about the United Nations and how countries interact with each other.
At these conferences, participants become representatives of various countries, organizations or individuals and work with other delegates to find solutions to problems. It allows us to develop a deeper understanding of the world we live in.
The Clubs & Societies Day better known as CnS Day is a recurring event hosted by the Orientation Leaders (OL) with the supervision of the Student Development And Leadership (SEAL) Department, which aims to let clubs and societies promote themselves and attract new club members to join the club.
The CnS Day normally will be a 3-day event that takes place in Taylor's Lakeside Campus, and all Taylorians are welcome to drop by and find out about the clubs and societies that they are interested in.
The Welcoming Session is a recurring introductory event hosted by the Human Resources (HR) department of the club and serves as the main event to welcome new club members when they join the club.
Attendees will be able to find out more about the TLMUN club through various information-sharing sessions by department representatives, and meeting new friends from different faculties and schools.
There will be fun ice-breaking and games sessions too, so do not miss out!
Taylor’s Lakeside Model United Nations (TLMUN) Conference is an annual Model United Nations (MUN) convention (assembly meeting) which unites delegates (participants) around the world, who each represents a country in a United Nations council or committee in solving global prevalent issues requiring a comprehensive resolution. MUN seeks to educate interested parties in the mechanisms of the United Nations in tackling a crisis; it is an educational simulation which extends up to three days (conventionally). It aims to hone the skills of diplomacy, international relations, negotiation, conflict resolution, etc.
Our mission statement can be acquainted with our goals to empower the MUN scene in Malaysia, where it must be capable of tackling the pressing issues and rid itself of deadweight in this beloved world of ours.
The Annual General Meeting serves as one of the most important annual events for the TLMUN club, as it is the holiest moment when the club members gather together and vote for the succeeding term of leaders.
Positions such as the Presidency of the club, Vice Presidencies, Treasury Secretaryship and Directorial will be open up for contests. Club members will then cast their votes and elect the most suitable candidates who they seem fit the positions the most to assume the office and lead the club in the incoming year.
Club Social Responsibility (CSR) Events are various club initiatives, dedicated to assisting different groups in society, usually executed in the form of fundraisers.
As the name suggests, we as a community should help those others in desperate need. Generally, it is accompanied by a variety of mechanisms, such as lucky draws, charity bazaars, sales of merchandise and more!
LABELLED is a Speakers' Panel Event held by the TLMUN Club, usually in collaboration with other clubs, on an annual basis. LABELLED will consist of inviting guest speakers to discuss a specific theme or topic. The number of guest speakers may vary but between 3 to 5 speakers only.
Participants may gain further insights on a specific issue at hand, raise awareness amongst the general public on certain contemporary problems that are still currently relevant, and understand more about the club's activities and objectives concerning enriching the knowledge amongst its members.
The Bonding Session is held by the Human Resources (HR) Department, which aims to welcome the new batch of the Committee.
The purpose of this event is for Committee Members to bond and forge meaningful connections, a solid step towards the notion of working and having fun as a team in the near future.
General Meeting is usually called by the Executive Committee (EXCO) and Board of Directors (BOD) to address crucial issues on the operations of the club. Issues may be brought up during the general meeting, and the council with solve the issue as a whole by voting.
Usually, the General Meeting will be conducted monthly, but subjected to changes by the EXCO/BODs in-charge.
