Having its roots as early as 2015 and having established itself as what it is today in 2018, the Taylor's Lakeside Model United Nations (TLMUN) Club is a youth-led Model United Nations organization located at Taylor's Lakeside Campus, Malaysia.
Being the platform for all Taylorians to broaden their perspectives, our members gain insight into various social-political and geostrategic issues around the world, being equipped to debate and speak out on such issues of global importance. Through means such as Model United Nations, skills such as public speaking, debating, negotiation, leadership and policy-making are solidified and enhanced. We deliver events such as coffee talk sessions, speakers' panel sessions and 'mamak' sessions, alongside our annual flagship conference organized, Taylor's Lakeside Model United Nations Conference, where participants from Malaysia and the world come together to debate and learn about the world around us.
Model United Nations (also known as Model UN or MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations, its subsidiary agencies and various legislatures. Students learn about the United Nations and how countries interact with each other. At a Model United Nations conference, participants become representatives of various countries, organizations or individuals and work with other delegates to find solutions to problems. As a simulation of international affairs, Model United Nations allow us to develop a deeper understanding of the world we live in.
TLMUN believes in the inclusivity of the Model United Nations experience, aiming to engage all students in an authentic simulation of the United Nations by learning the collaborative process of problem-solving and consensus building in the system, further hoping to foster leadership and positive engagement through discussions and debates on the world’s current most pressing issues.
The TLMUN Conference has been, and continues to be, a pioneer in the Malaysian Model United Nations community.
With participants from all across Malaysia and around the globe, our 3-day conference encourages young people to debate and learn about a wide range of issues, ranging from healthcare to free speech, domestic to international.
